On Friday, October 7, representatives from the Council of Writing Program Administrators,
along with colleagues from CCCC and NWP visited The White House. The delegation included
Charlie Lowe, Keith Rhodes, Linda Adler-Kassner, Rita Malenczyk, Barb L'Eplattenier,
Duane Roen, Dominic DelliCarpini, Chuck Paine, Dave Blakesley, Susan Miller-Cochran,
Kelly Ritter, and Chris Anson.
Last week, the Council of Writing Program Administrators received an invitation to visit The White House on Friday, October 7, 2011. In response to the invitation, which was facilitated by Wellstone Action, five leaders in the organization will be making the trip: Rita Malenczyk, Chuck Paine, Linda Adler-Kassner, Barbara L' Eplattenier, and Duane Roen. We will have an opportunity to talk with Obama Administration officials to share our perspectives on issues that are important to CWPA and its members.
In July 2012 the CWPA Executive Board will say goodbye to members Darsie Bowden, DePaul University; Doug Downs, Montana State University; and Chuck Paine, University of New Mexico. We therefore invite nominations for three new Executive Board members.
The Executive Board oversees the CWPA, its events, and its activities; creates policies and procedures for its management; and engages in special projects and initiatives. The new Executive Board members will serve for three years, with terms beginning in July 2012.

It's only fitting that as we prepare for this year's CWPA Conference in Baton Rouge, that we look back to the previous year with the publication of the WPA 2010 Conference Proceedings. I thank Charlie Lowe for all his diligent work on the project.
