Montclair State University Seeks Faculty Director for Center for Writing Excellence

Montclair State University, the second-largest and fastest-growing state university in New Jersey, invites applications to fill an associate or full professor position to develop and direct the university’s new Center for Writing Excellence to start in the Fall 2007 semester. Applicants should have expertise in composition/rhetoric and writing center theory and practice, with secondary expertise in such areas as WAC/WID, teacher education, community writing, or ESL. The Director will need to be able to reach across disciplinary boundaries and develop programs with college as well as university-wide programs. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and administrative skills and a record of accomplishment in developing writing-related centers, programs or other initiatives. With primary responsibility for developing and implementing a new university-wide Center for Writing Excellence at an institution committed to changing the culture of writing on campus, the successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda and teach 1/1, with opportunity to teach graduate courses in Writing Studies and undergraduate courses in teacher education and first year writing. Initial interviews to be held at the December MLA meeting in Philadelphia or via phone.
