Tenure-track position. Ph.D. in Composition/Rhetoric or related field, with Ph.D. in Composition/Rhetoric preferred. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of research and publication or its potential required. Areas of expertise should include one or more of the following: rhetoric, digital or new media, literacy studies, gender studies, and composition theory. Additional areas of interest include technical / professional writing, linguistics, and writing program administration. Scope: The applicant’s primary teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of composition and rhetoric at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, the applicant selected will be expected to actively participate in the management of the Sabal Palms Writing Project. The faculty member will serve on departmental, college and university committees maintain appropriate office hours and fulfill all other responsibilities of a faculty member at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
