Eckerd College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant professor level. Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition in hand by start date, September 2008. As member of Writing Excellence Program, hire will teach five courses plus a two course equivalent administrative assignment per year, work with students on independent projects in specialty, and assist with junior-level portfolio assessment. Eckerd College, the only independent national liberal arts college in Florida, has a tradition of innovative education and teaching/mentoring excellence. Participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including a regular rotation in the two-semester freshman program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate success in the classroom and thorough knowledge of writing pedagogy (including assessment), will have identified a research area in rhetoric, and will be dedicated to liberal arts education.
