College Lecturer—First-Year English Composition
The University of Akron, Ohio invites applications for two 9-month, non-tenure track College Lecturer positions in First-Year English Composition. Contracts begin August 25, 2008. Positions are renewable. Salary $34,000 plus benefits. Ph.D. or ABD in English preferred, M.A. in English or related field required.
1) One position available to teach in our first-year composition sequence: 111 (4 credits), 112 (3 credits). Teaching load is 12 credit hours a semester, which may include participation in a learning community or cooperation with curriculum designed for our provisional admits. Positions require college level teaching experience in non-modal, process-based curriculum and graduate level course work in composition and rhetoric. Experience with computer aided instruction a plus. 2) One position available to teach primarily in our distance learning program. College-level teaching experience and graduate course work in composition required. Experience in a distance learning environment preferred. Selected candidates will teach a 3-3 load in freshman composition courses. Candidates must teach from our on-campus classroom.
