Writing Instructor at University of Colorado, Boulder

The Student Academic Services Center’s McNeill Writing Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time instructorship, beginning August 2008. Teaching load is two writing courses per semester and the position carries substantial administrative responsibilities. Starting salary is $40,000 with full benefits. The initial appointment is for one year; thereafter the contract may be renewable for one-three years. Minimum qualifications include a graduate degree in Rhetoric and Composition, English or another relevant field, at least two years experience teaching college-level writing, and experience working with diverse student populations. Preferred qualifications include experience developing multimodal composition curriculum and experience in working with the theory and practices of successful learning communities. The SASC/ McNeill Writing Program is part of a larger student services unit which serves the following populations of students: provisionally admitted students; students underrepresented at CU or in their major of choice; low-income students; first-generation college students; ELL students. We are therefore especially interested in candidates who are eager to work closely with these populations and to collaborate with the McNeill staff in developing an effective multicultural learning community.
