CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, EAST BAY Position Announcement Director, Student Center for Academic Achievement
California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) invites applications for the position of Director of the Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA). The Center offers academic assistance and resources designed to promote student learning, with an emphasis on individual instruction in writing and math.
The University: CSUEB, a comprehensive urban public institution located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is noted for its excellence in education serving a highly diverse student population of over 13,000 undergraduates and graduates at its campuses in Hayward and Concord.
The Position: Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs and to the Vice President, Student Affairs, the Director assumes administrative responsibility for the Student Center for Academic Achievement. This position requires a strong educator who has the vision to lead and maintain a high quality center for learning assistance. The Director will · provide leadership and supervision in directing the SCAA; · manage the budget and oversee coordination of daily operations and services; · develop, implement and assess learning outcomes consistent with center goals; · form policies and procedures pertaining to service delivery; · recruit, train, evaluate and supervise tutoring and support staff; · represent SCAA on various campus committees; · maintain strong contacts with academic departments and the Executive Director of Academic Support and Retention Services, Student Affairs. Additional responsibilities may include program assessment, data base management, applied research and seeking grant funds.
Qualifications: Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred. Applicants must have a minimum of three years experience in university teaching, training, supervision or program administration. Knowledge of learning theory and academic support services are required. Ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population is essential. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of writing across the curriculum and/or math education, familiarity with technology and online tutoring, and experience with English language learners.
Compensation: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment to the CSU Management Personnel Plan with faculty status includes a broad and attractive benefits package. Retreat rights negotiable.
