Assistant Director, University Center for Writing-based Learning, DePaul University
The Assistant Director for Faculty Development supports the Director in the development, implementation, and maintenance of writing instruction initiatives in the Liberal Studies Program and major programs across the university. The person in this position will assist the director in fostering commitment to the writing initiative, developing discipline- and domain-specific resources for faculty across the curriculum, designing writing-centered curricula and training materials, and conducting workshops and one-to-one instruction with faculty from across the university. The Assistant Director will enable faculty to develop and implement creative approaches to writing instruction within Liberal Studies and disciplinary curricula.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist director in designing/delivering faculty-development. workshops/seminars/materials to support writing initiative.
Continuing development/maintenance of online pedagogical resources and faculty-support functions of Center's website.
Coordinate the Graduate Assistant Liaison Program.
One-to-one instruction/consultation with faculty.
Develop and monitor the Center's Laptop Assistance program, which trains faculty in teaching writing with computers.
Teach three courses in the First-Year Writing Program.
MA in English (PhD preferred) or other appropriate field with course work in teaching writing, composition theory, rhetoric, WAC/WID, or writing center work required.
Experience teaching writing at the postsecondary level required.
Experience working in teams required. Preference for experience working with faculty in groups and one-on-one.
Experience relevant to assisting faculty in the development and creative implementation of writing pedagogy in diverse disciplines"?
