Visiting Composition Instructor position, Tennessee Tech Univ.

VISITING INSTRUCTOR / VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: Department of English and Communications, Tennessee Tech University (Cookeville, TN).

Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track appointment to begin August 2010. One-year contract may be renewed, depending on department need and funding.

QUALIFICATIONS: MA or PhD in English (MA required for rank of Visiting Instructor, PhD required for rank of Visiting Assistant Professor). Graduate coursework in composition pedagogy. Evidence of excellence in composition instruction. Demonstrated commitment to teaching first-year composition. Preferred: Experience teaching in a networked classroom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Teach four sections each semester in first-year composition sequence (ENGL 1010 and 1020: Writing I and II) and perform departmental duties (e.g., committee participation).
