Interim Director of Writing Center - College of Wooster

The College of Wooster invites applications for the Interim Director of the Writing Center. The Interim Director is a full-time salaried professional staff position that provides leadership for the Writing Center and oversees the professional staff of the Center, the Writing Center Intern, and Writing Center Peer Tutors.

The Interim Director is responsible for all operations of the Writing Center, specifically, the training of all Writing Center staff, promoting and publicizing the services of the Writing Center to the campus community, managing the Center’s budget, developing and offering in-class workshops, assessing the effectiveness of the Writing Center operations, providing professional development opportunities for the Writing Center staff, maintaining the technology and equipment needs of the Center, and maintaining liaison relations with the faculty and all academic departments. The Interim Director will also provide 10-15 hours of tutoring for the Center’s clients and will teach one or two courses per year.

The qualified candidate will have the ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies on and off campus; show strong organizational skills, initiative and follow-through; demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication; possess an understanding of a liberal arts education; prior experience working with diverse populations is desirable. A Master’s degree is required; PhD is preferred.
