Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track
St. John's University invites applications for a tenure-track writing faculty position housed in the University's Institute for Core Studies. This position is for our Queens campus and, pending final budgetary approval, will start late August 2012. Candidates will teach 3-3 loads of first-year composition and be part of the Institute for Writing Studies (for information visit www.stjohns.edu/iws.) Other duties include attending orientation and assessment workshops, participating in weekly meetings, and participating in program committees. Candidates should have experience teaching composition, extensive knowledge of composition theory and writing pedagogy, and a promising research plan related to literacy, pedagogy, composition, rhetoric, and/or communication studies.
Candidates should submit a letter of application, CV, and at least three letters of recommendation by March 1, 2012. By March 10, selected candidates will be contacted via email and asked to submit a writing sample and teaching portfolio, or a writing sample, statement of teaching philosophy, and sample syllabi. Interviews will be conducted at the 2012 Conference on College Composition and Communication (4Cs) in St. Louis, MO on March 23 and 24.
