Writing Program Director, Western State College of Colorado
Western State College of Colorado invites applications for the position of Writing Program Director in the department of Communication Arts, Languages, and Literature.
Responsibilities: teaching, assessing, and administering the existing basic, first- and second-year writing courses. Other responsibilities include developing a campus-wide writing culture with support from the General Education Coordinator and Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence; overseeing the writing center and peer tutors; training new writing instructors; web development; and working with the teaching assistant program.
Qualifications: MA or terminal degree required in composition, English, or related field. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching. Ability to work closely with colleagues in a small, student-centered undergraduate program is essential. Ability to understand, work within, and extend the existing text-based and rhetorical curriculum. Experience in developmental writing and/or English Language Learning is desired. Preference will be given to applicants experienced in directing a writing center and coordinating assessment.
Salary $37,000-$38,500 per year depending on experience, plus benefits.
