Assistant Professor of English and Writing Center Director

The College of Arts and Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in January or September 2014. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of English, specializing in Rhetoric and Composition, who will also serve as Director of the Writing Center. Successful candidates will teach upper-level undergraduate coursework in their area of specialization and related fields. As part of their regular teaching loads, candidates may have the opportunity to teach graduate courses as well as supervise Master’s theses/research projects. Quality performance will be expected in instruction, research, professional development, and University service. The regular teaching load for this position is 2/2. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

As Director of the Writing Center, the successful candidate will hire, train, supervise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students working as Writing Assistants; oversee the growth and development of the Writing Center; support faculty efforts to improve writing instruction (with the long-term goal of developing a Writing Across the Curriculum program); develop instructional materials for Writing Assistants and faculty.
