POSITION:  ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH AND DIRECTOR, WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM

EFFECTIVE DATE:      AUGUST 18, 2014 (FALL SEMESTER)

 

SALARY RANGE:   COMMENSURATE WITH QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  •  PHD IN RHETORIC AND COMPOSITION OR CLOSELY RELATED FIELD
  • ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS APPROPRIATE TO APPOINTMENT AS ASSOCIATE
  • OR FULL PROFESSOR
  • DEMONSTRATED EFFECTIVENESS FOR TEACHING WRITING ON MULTIPLE LEVELS 
  • RECORD OF SUCCESSFUL RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION APPROPRIATE TO RANK OF
  • ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR
  • COMMITMENT TO, AND/OR EXPERTISE IN, EDUCATING A DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATION

  • DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE WITH UNIVERSITY WRITING PROGRAMS. DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE WITH WRITING PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
  • DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE WITH WRITING ASSESSMENT
  • DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE TRAINING FACULTY TO TEACH WRITING
  • DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE IN LEADING WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM  
  • AND WRITING IN THE DISCIPLINES INITIATIVES.
  • KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM THEORY AND PRACTICE
  • DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE DEVELOPING WRITING/WRITING-INTENSIVE COURSES
  • AT THE UPPER-DIVISION LEVEL.
  • KNOWLEDGE OF DIGITAL AND MULTIMODAL RHETORIC AND USE OF DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS

DUTIES:   

  • WORK WITH THE UNIVERSITY’S SEVEN COLLEGES AND THEIR DEPARTMENTS TO
  • CREATE WRITING-INTENSIVE GENERAL EDUCATION CAPSTONE COURSES TO
  • MEET CRITERIA FOR THE GRADUATE WRITING ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENT (GWAR)         PROVIDE TRAINING FOR INSTRUCTORS OF WRITING-INTENSIVE COURSES
  • ASSESS STUDENT WRITING IN WRITING-INTENSIVE COURSES.
  • COLLABORATE WITH RELEVANT PERSONNEL IN THE COMPOSITION PROGRAM AND
  • WITH THOSE TEACHING, DEVELOPING, OR ASSESSING GWAR COURSES.
  • SERVE AS A RESOURCE FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS INTERESTED IN ENHANCING WRITING
  • INSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPING WRITING COURSES IN THEIR MAJOR.
  • TEACH WRITING COURSES ON MULTIPLE LEVELS
  • ENGAGE IN SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES THAT WILL LEAD TO PUBLICATION.
  • PARTICIPATE IN UNIVERSITY SERVICE APPROPRIATE TO THE POSITION.
