Virginia Tech First-year Writing One-year Instructor Positions

Position 1.

The Department of English at Virginia Tech invites applications for an Instructor position in first-year writing. A Master’s degree in English with a concentration in writing or extensive experience in writing instruction is required. A preferred qualification is a background in ESL. Full-time instructors teach four courses per semester. Instructors are expected to participate in the department’s faculty development activities and to embrace the goals and methods of multi-section courses. Instructors are not required to serve on committees or in advising, but they are welcome to do so voluntarily. Instructors are expected to work well with a diverse student body. The appointment is for one year. The department gives priority to faculty who have served as instructors on restricted contracts should openings be available in subsequent years.
