Assistant Professor in Writing: Composition Specialist

Position Description: The Writing Department at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in our First-Year Writing program. Teaching load is 4/4 (12 hours per semester). The successful candidate must have experience teaching college writing and should be a specialist in rhetoric and composition, professional writing, or closely related field.   Successful candidates will have strong interest and experience in first-year writing.  Duties include primarily teaching composition with the possibility of teaching one to three upper-level courses during the year depending on qualifications and department need. Position begins August 16, 2015.

Minimum qualifications: PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field. Previous experience teaching college writing and evidence of excellence in teaching required.  Candidates must be willing to participate in local, regional, and national professional development and have a genuine interest in general education instruction, assessment, and program initiatives.  Preferred applicants will have experience with multimodal writing and may have experience with co-requisite courses and learning communities.  Candidate will also have a clear research agenda.
