The Position: The Department of Writing invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 2015. Teaching load is 4/4 (12 hours per semester). Responsibilities include teaching advanced courses in professional and/or technical communication, rhetoric and composition, as well as courses in First-Year Writing. The successful candidate must have the capacity to teach, research, advise, and provide leadership. Preference will be given to candidates who have training and experience in digital and/or print media production, grant writing, writing for organizations, or related areas.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Professional/Technical Communication, Rhetoric and Composition, Digital Rhetorics/New Media, or in a closely related field. Candidates must have a record of national, regional, and local professional development. Applicants will have experience teaching technical writing and/or professional writing and have a clear research agenda. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent software and experience in teaching First-Year Writing preferred. Additional interest in writing for sciences and/or civic engagement valued.
