Position Summary:

The Department of English at Illinois State University invites applications for a twelve-month, continuing administrative/professional position as Director of the Publications Unit. The Director will manage and lead the Publications Unit at Illinois State University. This position is responsible for editing, designing, and marketing publications that are housed at the Publications Unit, managing online content for publications and the Unit, and training and supervising graduate assistants and undergraduate interns.

Job duties include editorial and production management; training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate interns; website management; instruction of Introduction to Professional Publishing course; coordination of professional development opportunities; promotion of unit; grant investigation; and working with faculty and other department members to provide leadership in identifying and pursuing future publications opportunities. Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in English or a related field

Administrative or leadership experience in a publications unit, press, center, or other publishing organization

Professional knowledge of publishing processes and techniques

Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and FileMaker in a professional production environment

Editing and proofreading skills

Desired Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in English or a related field

Founded in 1991, the ISU Publications Unit is an educational center for literary and scholarly publishing. The Unit currently manages the production of publications including creative, literary, and scholarly works.
