T/T Assistant Professor, Professional Writing - George Mason University


The George Mason University Department of English seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Professional Writing and Rhetoric to begin Fall 2015.

Applicants should have a strong background in professional writing research methods, workplace study, and rhetorical theory. Research and teaching interests may focus on one or more of the following: research methods, technical communication, editing, government relations, visual rhetoric, global/intercultural communication, and/or usability. Prior workplace experience in professional or technical communication is preferred. Required: Ph.D. in professional writing, rhetoric, or a related field.

The 2/2 course load includes undergraduate teaching opportunities in composition, advanced composition, upper-division technical writing, and graduate courses in rhetoric and technical communication.

The Department of English offers an undergraduate minor and concentration in rhetoric and writing, along with an M.A. concentration in Professional Writing and Rhetoric, and a new Ph.D. program in Writing and Rhetoric.
