Tenure-Track Director of Campus Writing at Seattle Pacific University

Pending final approval, Seattle Pacific University seeks a writing program administrator to direct its writing program beginning September 1, 2015.  Experience in writing program administration strongly preferred.  Full-time, tenure-track, rank and salary commensurate with experience.  PhD in rhetoric and composition or terminal degree in closely related field required.

The position is half-time administrative, half-time instructional.  Administrative duties include overseeing the university’s new writing curriculum, which will provide a foundation for the university’s new cultural engagement requirement, as well as the writing center.  The director will also hire and train part-time writing instructors as well as undergraduate tutors.  Instructional duties are limited to teaching one writing course per academic quarter.

Founded in 1891, Seattle Pacific University serves more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.  As a Christian university, SPU is clearly evangelical, genuinely ecumenical, and distinctively Wesleyan, and seeks applicants who are committed to its Christian mission. The University is located in a cosmopolitan urban center with rich cultural diversity and is committed to building an excellent and diverse teaching faculty.  Women and persons of color are encouraged to apply.
