The University of Baltimore's School of Communications Design seeks a Director of Expository Writing. Primary Responsibilities include:
â€¢ Design a creative implementation of a brand new freshman composition curriculum
â€¢ Redesign upper level writing curriculum
â€¢ Oversee coordination required writing courses: freshman composition; junior writing course; and collateral remedial courses
â€¢ Teach a variety of required writing courses
â€¢ Coordinate attainment of common goals among all writing faculty
â€¢ Conduct periodic review of curriculum
â€¢ Create and maintain syllabi for courses
â€¢ Schedule and staff sections of course for fall, spring, and summer semesters
â€¢ Recruit and hire adjunct faculty
â€¢ Train and mentor new instructors
â€¢ Review course evaluations; write evaluations of faculty teaching course
â€¢ Work with Academic Resource Center to develop appropriate assessment, placement, and equivalency policies and testing instruments
Position requires an M.A. in English, Writing, or Rhetoric and Composition; appropriate training in rhetoric and composition; significant work experience teaching English composition at the college level. Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or in English with specialization in rhetoric and composition desirable.
