Adv. Asst/Assoc Professor of Rhetoric and Composition
The Department of English at the University of San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track, advanced assistant or associate professor position in Rhetoric and Composition and Director of the new University Writing Program. Teaching load is three courses per year; administrative load consists of three courses of reassigned time per year.
Teaching responsibilities include writing courses at all levels. Administrative responsibilities includes collaborating with faculty and administration in building USD’s new Writing Program; supervision of first year writing courses, including personnel decisions in consultation with English department chair; incoming student assessment and competency exams; lead coordinator for all upper division, cross curricular writing courses, including training faculty, reviewing W-course application and syllabi; assessment; oversight of the Writing Center; oversight of ESL student assessment and support programming.

Interviews will be conducted at the MLA Convention in Austin, TX in 2016 or via SKYPE for candidates unable to attend.
PhD in Rhetoric and Composition, with preparation in English language and literature. Interest in Creative Writing welcome. Substantial experience in Writing Program administration and budgeting. Background in working with WAC/WID, Writing Programs assessment, Writing Centers and ESL programs. Training and experience with digital writing and multimodal writing pedagogy preferred. Significant record of publication and research in the field and engagement with CCCC and WPA. Excellent record of teaching writing at all levels. PhD in English considered provided applicant meets all other qualifications listed.
