Assistant Professor of English - Digital Writing and Rhetoric
The English Department at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track position in Digital Writing and Rhetoric to begin Fall 2016 at the rank of assistant professor. Applicants should provide evidence of sustained critical and pedagogical engagement with digital media and technologies, particularly in regard to writing instruction, with a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or a related field by August 25, 2016.The candidate appointed to this position will teach two courses per semester and participate in a growing Academic and Professional Writing Program housed within the English Department. Teaching will include first-year and advanced writing courses that make innovative use of digital technologies, along with opportunities to teach and mentor graduate students. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the development of one or more of the following: a potential writing track through the English major that would include working with digital media; an emerging commitment to Writing across the Curriculum at a time when the College of Arts and Sciences has granted substantial new resources to writing instruction; and a vision for digital writing that can further advance Digital Humanities scholarship and teaching at the University of Virginia.
