Assistant Professor, General Faculty (non-tenure-track) - five positions - deadline Feb 22

The English Department at the University of Virginia invites applications for three non-tenure-track positions in Academic and Professional Writing to begin Fall 2017. These positions are three-year renewable appointments beginning at the rank of assistant professor, general faculty and are eligible for promotion to associate and full professor in the years that follow. We seek candidates with strong records as teachers of writing, with a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or terminal degree in a related field by the appointment start date.

The candidate appointed to this position will teach three courses per semester and participate in a growing Academic and Professional Writing Program housed within the English Department. Teaching will include first-year and advanced writing courses, along with opportunities to participate in curriculum development and other departmental initiatives. Some committee/service work is expected. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to our program by teaching one or more of the following: developmental writing courses, public speaking courses, and advanced courses that include digital writing and rhetoric.

The application process is relatively uncomplicated and does not involve letters of recommendation--but the deadline is soon:  February 22, 2017.
