Associate Chair and Associate Professor of English
The English Department seeks candidates for a tenure-eligible assistant
professor or an associate professor position to serve as Director of the
Composition Program, starting July 2008. Duties include directing the
Department's Composition Program, supervising staff in the writing
center, training graduate assistants in our Graduate Teaching Practicum
course, with an opportunity to teach an additional course in English.
This is an eleven-month position. Salary will be commensurate with
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric, Composition, or
related English field; appropriate administrative experience; articles
or book publications relevant to the position; familiarity with using
technology to teach; two-year record of full-time, successful university
teaching. For consideration for the tenured associate rank, candidate
must have a tenured associate appointment at another university.
Preferred Qualifications: Three years administrative experience
directing writing programs; strong, sustained record of publications
relevant to the position; expertise with using technology in the
classroom; commitment to working with diverse populations, such as
incorporating diverse perspectives into class syllabi, as well as
assignments and research that include diverse populations; demonstrated
excellence and innovation in teaching.
