Deadline Extended--WPA-GO Travel Awards Call Now 2/13

Good news! We are now able to accept submissions for the WPA-GO Travel Grants for CCCC until next Friday, February 13th. The deadline has been extended from the original date of February 6th. If you are a graduate student presenting at CCCC or any of the related forums, please submit a proposal to WPA-GO. We are making several awards, and the process is pretty straightforward so there is still time. Details are below. Advisors--please alert your student advisees.

Call for Applications: 2015 CCCC Graduate Student Travel Grants due 2/6

The Writing Program Administrators Graduate Student Organization (WPA-GO) and the Council of Writing Program Administrators (CWPA) are pleased to offer several travel grants of $100-200 each (plus admission to the CWPA Breakfast at CCCCs) to current graduate students presenting at or in association with the 2015 Conference on College Composition and Communication, to be held March 18-21 in Tampa, Florida.

In July 2015, the Council of Writing Program Administrators (CWPA) Graduate Committee (GC) will say goodbye to members Christine Garcia (U of New Mexico), Brian Hendrickson (U of New Mexico), and Heather Stone (U of Utah), while Al Harahap (U of Arizona) will assume the Past Chair role.

In July 2015 the WPA-GO Graduate Committee (GC) will say goodbye to current members Christine Garcia, Brian Hendrickson, and Heather Stone; in addition, our current Chair, Al Harahap, will be moving into a special projects and advisory role rather than serving on the standing committees per the organization's succession plan. Therefore, we invite nominations for four new Graduate Committee members.

WPA-GO Social at CWPA14

The Writing Program Administrators-Graduate Student Organization (WPA-GO) hopes to see you at our 2014 CWPA Social. Join us on Friday, July 18 at the Medici in Normal from 8:30-11:30 pm. A limited supply of drink vouchers and light appetizers available.

This event is a celebration for _all_ WPA members and affiliates. Check out the flyer (attached), forward it to your friends, and please let us know if you have questions.

"Breakfast Buddy" Mentoring Event at 2014 CWPA Conference in Normal, Illinois

WPA-GO and the CWPA Mentoring Project are excited to sponsor a "Breakfast Buddy" Mentoring Event at CWPA conference next month! Graduate students, new faculty, or first-time conference attendees who sign-up for this event will be matched with a faculty mentor “buddy” from another institution. Then, to encourage light-hearted, cross-institutional mentoring, paired buddies will meet and chat together during the conference breakfast on Friday, July 18th.

Great Results from the WPA-GO Breakfast Buddy Event at the 2013 CWPA Conference!

The Mentoring and Professional Development Committee is proud to present a mini-report about the “Breakfast Buddies” event from the 2013 summer WPA conference in Savannah. As you may know, last year was the first iteration of Breakfast Buddies. As we hope there will be many more are to come, we are using last year’s feedback to constructively critique the program, making it better for future CWPA appearances.
