Just as the mid-point of the semester seems like a good time to look back on the work we do with students, it seems like a useful moment to reflect on CWPA’s work this Fall 2009 term. There are a lot of opportunities for CWPA members (and friends) to be involved with the organization – and maybe a list of some of the initiatives will inspire others to join!

Based on input that we collected through WPA Directions at the 2009 summer conference, we’ve started or will start several new initiatives. These include:

The National Day on Writing has come and gone; but the spirit that inspired it, we hope, is still with us.  Here’s one way to keep that spirit alive:

In some ways, writing is everybody's business. Because of the central place that writing occupies in daily life, people are often very happy to engage in conversation about what should happen in writing classes and why. 

The Network for Media Action, a WPA initiative designed to help us shape and respond to media depictions of writing and writing instruction, is pleased to announce that its newly re-designed National Conversation on Writing (NCoW) site is now available at www.ncow.org.
