The University of Toronto infuses attention to writing throughout its curriculum rather than relying on a program of required courses. Its large and very diverse student population (75,000) and its wide range of programs are served by 14 different writing centres, some of which co-teach disciplinary courses or teach courses of their own as well as giving individual consultations to students. Two other programs offer minors and majors in writing (Writing and Rhetoric at Innis College; Professional Writing and Communication at University of Toronto Mississauga). The 35 full-time and 30 part-time faculty members in writing programs also confer with disciplinary faculty on curriculum and course planning, concentrating especially on assignment design and assessment methods. The very popular Writing at U of T website contains over 60 advice files for students and a section of advice and links for faculty.
