The Fashion Institute of Technology, an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology of the State University of New York, invites applications for a Director of the Writing Center.
This position is a full-time, non-classroom faculty position, reporting to the Dean of Liberal Arts. The Center will be new to the college and the Director will organize and implement a program of activities focused on writing across the disciplines of business, art, design, and liberal arts. The Director plans and leads workshops for faculty, staff and students in writing and writing-related areas (such as oral communication/presentation skills) in both classroom and Center settings. S/he will recruit, train, and oversee faculty and tutors as needed; oversee Center technology, including online services for faculty and students; stay current with innovations in the field and organize events featuring invited authors and speakers.
Qualifications: appropriate Masters or Ph.D. and significant experience in writing across disciplines at the college level; experience in Writing Center/Program Administration a plus.
