Position Announcement:  Composition with Specialization in Freshman Writing 

Start date: Fall 2019 

Position: Assistant Professor of English (tenure-track)  

The Fort Lewis College English Department seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. The successful candidate will teach our rhetoric-centered composition courses and contribute to department and campus-wide service.  

The position is for nine months, full-time, with a starting date of August 2019. The position carries a 12/12 credit teaching load consisting of one, two, and three-hundred level composition courses. Required qualifications:   

PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or a related field;  

Minimum of two years teaching first-year composition at the college level; and  

Demonstrated excellence in teaching.  

Preferred qualifications: 

Experience in developing pedagogy for diverse multicultural student body;  

Demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching; 

Ability to teach first-year composition with rhetoric-based curriculum; 

Ability to use technology for teaching innovation; 
Experience developing and teaching hybrid/online courses; 

Interest in and/or experience with writing across the curriculum/ writing in the disciplines.
