Welcome! to the IWCA/NCPTW 2008 conference.
Oct. 30-Nov 1, 2008, Thursday - Saturday
Pre-conference workshops, Wed., Oct 29th.
We will meet at the beautiful Alexis Park Resort Hotel,
a non-gaming facility ½ mile from the strip in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada.
This year's theme,
Alternate Routes: New Directions in Writing Center Work,
invites you to explore how writing centers best serve writers and their communities, academic or otherwise.
What are best practices for writing centers in collaboration with academic affairs?
How might we productively question received truths of writing center practice?
Writing Center Professionals-Remember, this is a great opportunity to support scholarship and leadership among your tutoring staff-we welcome and encourage their sending in proposals. For help with writing proposals, please see the Sample Proposal link on the CFP page below.
Who Should Attend the Conference?
The IWCA/NCPTW conference welcomes a variety of participants from among administrators and tutors who are undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals from all varieties of writing centers--university, two-year college, secondary school, and community centers. All are welcome to attend as well as to present at this conference.
