Visiting Assistant Professor, Wright State University--Technical Writing, Document Design, Visual Rhetoric, Composition


Pending availability of funding, the Department of English is seeking one non-tenure track assistant professor for a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal, pending availability of funding. Teaching responsibilities: seven 4-credit hour courses in technical writing, document design and/or visual rhetoric, and composition over three quarters.

The English Department teaches all first-year courses in networked computer classrooms; many sections are linked to learning communities. Information on Wright State’s writing program and the department can be found at

Required: Ph.D. in Composition, Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or related field awarded by August 2010. Strong background in composition pedagogy and technical writing. Evidence of successful experience teaching composition, technical writing, technical editing, document design, and/or visual rhetoric; business writing; or writing in the disciplines.
Preferred: Experience teaching writing in computer environments. Strong background in technical writing and composition pedagogy.
