Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track) for writing program at City University, Hong Kong

City University Department of English invites applications for an important and challenging position as a teacher of writing at the faculty rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This is a full-time appointment beginning July 1, 2011 (or sooner if possible) The position carries an excellent salary plus full medical and other benefits, and is on a tenure-track basis. A PhD in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or a related field along with a strong and ambitious research agenda is required for this position. Experience and background in the teaching of writing to ESL students is desirable.

The appointee will assist in setting up and administering a first-year program in composition and professional writing. Responsibilities will include curriculum development, faculty development, and coordination. Workload will accommodate these responsibilities, and the Department has strong administrative staff support. We anticipate further hiring to meet the needs of the program and eventual development of an appropriately staffed English Across the Curriculum initiative.
