Visiting Assistant Professor @ Swarthmore College

One-year, full-time position in the Swarthmore College Writing Program. Primary duties include teaching several sections of the first-year writing seminar, “Transitions to College Writing” and additional course(s) to be determined by the candidate in consultation with the director of the program; developing writing workshops for students; and providing individual consultations for those students needing extra support. “Transitions to College Writing” supports the college’s writing-across-the-curriculum approach to writing and is capped at 12 students.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in ESL writing, oral communication, and/or learning disabilities. We also seek candidates with a clear commitment to undergraduate education and experience in teaching students of diverse cultural backgrounds. The position is housed in the English Department but its primary responsibilities lie in working with the Writing Program and the Writing Center, which serve all three academic divisions of the College.
