Call for Applications: 2011 WPA Conference Graduate Student Travel Grants

The WPA Graduate Student Organization (WPA-GO) is pleased to announce that we are offering four travel grants of $100 each for current graduate students planning to present at the summer 2011 WPA Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Purpose and Criteria for Selection:
The Council of Writing Program Administrators promotes scholarship among graduate students engaged in current WPA work or interested in future writing program administration. To foster the intellectual development of these emergent scholars, the WPA Graduate Student Organization (WPA-GO) will award grants to facilitate graduate student presenters’ travel to the 2011 WPA Conference.

Winning submissions will be selected based upon the quality of the conference proposals and the students’ articulation of their goals for contribution to WPA work. Priority will also be given to graduate students who are not receiving any other funding for the conference.

Eligibility:
To be eligible to apply, applicants must be current graduate students enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at an accredited institution, and they must be accepted as presenters at the 2011 WPA conference. Additionally, they must be members of the Council of Writing Program Administrators. (For information about how to join CWPA, go to http://wpacouncil.org/join-renew. Memberships for graduate students cost $10 annually.)

Selection Committee:
Grant applications will be evaluated by members of the WPA Graduate Committee (WPA-GC).

Application Deadline and Timeline:
Travel grant applications are due by May 27, 2011. Winners will be notified by June 8 and they will receive a check for $100 and a certificate of recognition at the WPA Conference in July 2011.

Application Materials and Procedure:
Travel Grant Applications should include the following in a single PDF file:
