Assistant Professor in English

Calumet College of St. Joseph, a four-year institution of higher learning located in Whiting, Indiana, invites applications for a full time, tenure track Assistant Professor position.
The successful candidate will complement the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the College’s English faculty. We are seeking a reflective practitioner with a deep appreciation for the art and craft of teaching. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to teaching and mentoring diverse groups of students, many of whom require some degree of remedial work. Several of the courses in which the selectee will teach will be introductory in nature and will be organized in a learning community delivery model.
Academic Requirements: Candidates should have training, experience, and a record of success teaching Developmental Reading and Writing, Basic Composition, and Research Writing. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise students, maintain office hours, and serve on faculty committees of various kinds. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree or be in the process of securing a Ph.D. (i.e., to be completed by 2012).
