Title: Career Development Writing Specialist

Job Description: St. John’s University School of Law is seeking candidates the position of Writing Specialist in the Career Development Office. The Career Development Office at St. John’s provides proactive, student-centered placement services to J.D. and LL.M. students and alumni. The Writing Specialist, a new position, will have two primary duties, with some other duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities:
Help students write effective cover letters and resumes.
Review and critique documents in-person and through e-mail (often with quick turnaround deadlines).
Develop and teach workshops and classes on resume and cover letter writing.
Write materials to inform prospective employers about the Law School’s innovations in curriculum, experiential learning, and faculty scholarship.

Qualifications:
Superior writing, teaching, interpersonal, administrative, and computer skills.
A Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience as a teacher, tutor, or professional writer is preferred.
This position is subject to a comprehensive background screen, with employment contingent upon satisfactory results. If access to a University vehicle is required for the position, a DMV check for driving record and valid driver’s license is also required.
