The American University of Nigeria (AUN), in partnership with The American University, Washington, D.C., seeks qualified candidates for faculty positions in English/Writing Instructors.

The American University of Nigeria is an affiliate of the American University - Washington D.C..  Currently in its seventh year of operation, AUN is located in Yola, the Capital of the Adamawa State.   AUN is a rapidly growing, private, non-profit university featuring a wireless campus, state-of-the-art buildings and infrastructure, small classes, and a preponderance of U.S. educated faculty and senior administrators.  AUN is the first private, American-style University in Nigeria. With a current enrollment of 1,500 students, AUN is led by a team of approximately 100 Faculty.  The University enrolls students in three Schools:  The School of Arts and Sciences, The School of Business and Entrepreneurship; and the School of Information Technology and Communications.

- Be able to interact effectively with both the University community and the broader community;
- Commit to academic integrity; and
- Possess initiative, energy, flexibility, and creativity. 

These English/Writing Faculty positions are focused on addressing the entry-level, at-risk students at the University.  Candidates experienced in teaching fundamental writing, basic college writing, and working with at-risk students are encouraged to apply.  Faculty would be attached to the AUN Writing Center, and work largely with a population whose first language is not English.  Applicants must have the appropriate academic credentials:  a minimum of a master’s degree in English, credentials in TOEFL, demonstrated experience in working with at-risk students, successful U.S. teaching experience, and experience teaching students who speak English as a second language.  Experience in Africa or other parts of the developing world is a plus.
