Assistant to Associate Professor Composition & Rhetoric Specialist at the University of Guam
The Division of English and Applied Linguistics seeks a tenure-track Composition and Rhetoric Specialist to begin August 2012. The
ideal candidate will: 1) contribute to our undergraduate composition program, graduate program, and teach introductory composition
courses; 2) assist with advances in student-learning outcome assessment in the English and Applied Linguistics Program; 3) maintain a
continuous record of scholarly activity. Duties include: 1) teaching 12 credit hours per semester (faculty may apply for one-course load
reduction for research, instructional innovation, or service); 2) student advisement; and 3) division, college and university service.
Required: (1) Ph.D. in Composition/Rhetoric or a related field from a U.S. regionally-accredited institution or foreign equivalent; (2) a
record of scholarly publication and activity in areas of interest and expertise; and (3) teaching experience at the university level. Desired:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience and expertise in: (1) college-level writing instruction; (2) online learning or
composition and technology; (3) business, technical and scientific writing; (4) placement testing; and (5) learning assessment.
