Many of you have already registered for the WPA summer conference and related events at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo July 13-16. If you haven't yet registered, now's the time to click over to http://wpacouncil.org/2006register where you can register online or download a paper form to complete and mail in. The "early bird" registration deadline is May 15; after that date, registration costs go up by $30 per event. On the WPA website, you'll also find information about:
--the WPA workshop July 9-12
--the Assessment Insititute, July 12
--the Technology Institute, July 12
--housing at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel (book at www.choochoo.com with group booking code "WPA")
--getting to and from Chattanooga (http://wpacouncil.org/2006Travel)
The conference will begin about 5:00 pm on Thurday, July 13 with an opening reception followed by our first plenary talk. The conference concludes Sunday morning, July 16, about 10:00 am. The local committee has opportunities a'plenty for those of you who have late flights out on Sunday or just want to stick around and play for an extra day. Depending on interest, we'll have organized trips to sights around Chattanooga such as civil war battlefields, various museums, a hiking trip, whitewater rafting, and even an excursion to see the local minor league baseball team play on Sunday afternoon.
Everyone who submitted a proposal should have received a response from the program committee by now. If you are on the program, watch your email in the next week or so for a notice about the day and time of your session. If you have questions about the program, please contact program chair Shirley Rose at SRose@cla.purdue.edu. If you have questions about local arrangements, please get in touch with me at Lauren-Ingraham@utc.edu.
Please let me know if there's anything the local committee can do to help you plan your trip to Chattanooga. We're looking forward to seeing many of you in July.
