Call for WPA Journal Editor(s) or Editorial Team
The Council of Writing Program Administrators is seeking a new Editor or editorial team for its official journal, WPA: Writing Program Administration.
Our current very distinguished editorial team, led by Managing Editors Gregory Glau, Duane Roen, and Barry Maid, has shepherded the journal through three years of increasing visibility and importance, but they are ready to move on to other work in the field.
The WPA is now calling for applications for the position of WPA Journal Editor or Editorial Team. The term is for three years, with possibility for renewal, and starts in Spring 2007; responsibility for the first issue will be for Fall/Winter 2007 (Volume 31 Number 1) with assistance from Greg, Duane, and Barry.
Interested applicants should have the following qualifications: prior editorial experience, preferably working on a journal; publications in and familiarity with the field of writing program administration and related areas; familiarity with the journal, an understanding of the role the journal plays in the field, and a vision for journal's future; membership in the WPA; and strong editorial skills. We especially encourage applications from prospective editorial teams.
To apply, please submit an application letter explaining why you are qualified for this position and any resources or support you envision needing and/or being able to arrange to help you with the work (release time, secretarial support, startup funds, etc.) and a current c.v. If you are proposing an editorial team, please provide background on all members and explain how they will work together on editing and production of the journal. Send the application electronically as attached files to: Carrie Leverenz, WPA Journal Editor Search Committee Chair, firstname.lastname@example.org Deadline: July 31, 2006.
The Search Committee will be available for consultations with prospective editors/editorial teams at the WPA Summer Conference in Chattanooga, July 13-16. Upon request, additional information about editorial responsibilities and workflow, journal finances, and production timelines will be made available to prospective editors.
