The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) English Department seeks 3 three-year lecturers whose primary assignments will be in the First-Year Writing Program. Applicants may also be assigned duties in the CORE or other English department areas–creative writing, English education, linguistics/applied linguistics, literature, and/or rhetoric–dependent upon departmental need and qualifications. Applicants must be willing to teach Monday through Friday on campus during usually scheduled class hours and serve the university, discipline, and community as an active member of the UTPA faculty.

UTPA, a Hispanic serving institution, is in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, the southern tip of Texas known as the Rio Grande Valley. Three-year lecturers in the Department of English are eligible for promotion. Position begins Fall 2014.


-Education-Master’s degree in one of the disciplines housed in the Department of English (must be in hand by Sept. 1, 2014).

-Experience-Teaching first-year writing at the college level.


-Experience-2 years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level by September 1, 2014.
