Full-time Lecturer, CSU Stanislaus

The Department of English invites applications for a full-time Lecturer appointment with possibility for renewal. Teaching focus is in rhetoric and composition, specifically first year writing and composition courses for English Language learners. Applied Linguistics/TESOL is a strongly desired secondary emphasis. Preference for candidates with experience teaching a variety of composition and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, and with training and expertise in academic literacy development for ELL students. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and sustaining a quality ESL program and bridging the learning outcomes of a first year writing program with learning outcomes in ESL writing courses. We seek a person who has a strong commitment to teaching and who appreciates the broad diversity of students one finds in the CSU system. This is an academic year appointment. Opportunities exist for an additional Summer Session appointment.

MA in English or closely related field is required. Evidence of successful university level writing instruction (including both student and peer evaluations).

A candidate’s consideration will be enhanced by evidence of successful ESL/ELL teaching at the university level.
