Faculty Director, Writing and Multiliteracy Center
The CSU Channel Islands (CI) John Spoor Broome Library seeks an Assistant Professor/Director to ensure the successful transition of the University Writing Center into the University Writing and Multiliteracy Center. The Director will be charged with continuing to build the culture of undergraduate writing and communicating, including providing leadership in developing and implementing programs that address learning, writing, and communicating in complex and culturally diverse environments. S/he will recruit, hire, educate, and supervise peer writing, speech, and digital communication project consultants at undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate levels. The Director will develop curriculum for peer writing consultants, provide outreach to faculty and students in the form of workshops and consultation, supervise the development and use of instructional materials for tutorials and workshops in writing, oral presentation, research posters, and digital presentation production across the disciplines. The Director may also teach writing-intensive classes, and will be expected to contribute as a faculty member within the Broome Library, on university committees, and in university governance.
Ph.D. in composition/rhetoric, writing pedagogy, digital literacy, or related fields preferred.
Knowledge of operational and programmatic elements of multiliteracy/communication across-the-curriculum centers.
Experience in teaching undergraduate writing, writing-intensive courses, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and blended learning courses at a diverse public university.
Academic administrative experience including excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with instructional technology, digital literacy, and teaching writing in online/blended learning contexts. Familiarity with assessment and continuous improvement in the context of a multilteracy center
A research agenda related to writing/multiliteracy centers, writing pedagogy, or mulitliteracies across a curriculum
Participation in state, regional or national writing center associations.
