Assistant or Associate Professor of English,Writing and Rhetoric

MCLA’s English/Communications Department seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Writing and Rhetoric to begin September 1, 2015. The ideal candidate will have: academic preparation in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, and/or English language and Literature; a demonstrated experience in designing, developing and administering a college writing curriculum; and experience in supervising writing instructors. We seek an energetic candidate who will teach undergraduate writing courses, as well as design and coordinate an invigorated college-wide writing initiative that emphasizes current pedagogical principles, including writing across the curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, or English. Candidates who are ABD with a firm date of completion will be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years of successful teaching experience at the college level in composition, rhetoric, writing studies or related fields, and with significant experience in writing program administration. Readiness to teach courses in English language and literature is also a plus.
