The Department of English at Louisiana State University anticipates an opening for a position as Director of the University Writing Program. The position offers a unique opportunity for a creative, experienced writing program administrator to direct a well‐developed, forward‐looking program fully integrated into LSU's general education curriculum. Writing courses are taught mainly by graduate students and full‐time
The Director of the Writing Program works with an Associate Director and two graduate assistants. This is a 12‐month tenure‐track position at the rank of Advanced Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of English, the largest department on campus with a rich history of excellence in teaching, research, and community outreach. Position could begin either January or August 2016.
Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or related field; experience directing a large‐scale writing program; evidence of innovation and excellence in teaching, research, and assessment.
Additional desired qualifications: expertise in composition theory, rhetorical theory, and/or history of rhetoric; and expertise in graduate student preparation and faculty development.
This position offers a competitive salary and a very attractive teaching load. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre‐employment background check.
