Assistant Professor of Writing Studies at Western Washington University Fall 2016
The English Department at Western Washington University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Writing Studies beginning in the fall of 2016. We seek candidates who are interested in entering into three-year rotations as the Director of the First Year Writing Program starting in their third year, who can contribute in inventive ways to the department's writing studies courses, and who have scholarly and pedagogical expertise in the broad area of basic writing, particularly as it pertains to cross-cultural rhetorics and the literacies of diverse student populations. We are also looking for evidence of strong expertise in any of the following areas: rhetoric and composition studies, writing pedagogies, professional and technical writing, digital literacies. Western is on the quarter system with a standard teaching load of 2-2-2 (and 1-1-1 while serving as the WPA). Applications are due October 30, 2015. Preliminary Interviews will be held at the MLA Convention in Austin. Finalists will be invited to campus in early 2016.
