English Instructor (3 Vacancies), Midlands Technical College, Columbia SC - for Fall 2016

FT instructor currently teaches six sections of composition and literature courses (Fall semester), five (Spring semester) and others as needed.  Advises students.  Serves on College and/or department committees.  Engages in professional development.  Keeps office hours.  Submits reports of instructional activity.  Participates in the collection and analysis of data pertaining to student learning outcomes and competencies.  Is able to use online platforms to enhance teaching and learning.  May be required to teach classes at multiple campus and off-campus sites, including high schools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in English or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English.     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Degrees in Composition and Rhetoric, English, Linguistics or Professional/Technical Writing preferred.  Demonstrated interest and expertise in teaching college English courses, including both composition and literature, to diverse student populations highly preferred.  Demonstrated interest and expertise in writing program development and the two-year college environment.
