Subject: [WPA-L] To Friends, Colleagues, Writing Programs in so many places

I just want to take this time to thank so many of you for your
expressions of concern about the terrible events here at Virginia Tech.

We have heard from close friends and from folks we don't know at all
except that we know they are our colleagues in colleges and universities
all over.

We treasure your words. We draw strength from the knowledge that you are
all with us--physically and virtually.

I've been especially touched by those of you who remind me how important
writing classes are to our students and how well we get to know our
students in small composition classes and in Writing Centers. As many of
you have guessed, a good number of our composition faculty and GTAs have
lost students in this tragedy. Again, your words are important to us.
Your moral support is necessary.

My best to all of you,

Diana George
