Message from the 2007 WPA Research Institute Leaders
I'm pleased to pass along this message from the leaders of our first WPA Summer Research Institute, Irwin Weiser, Susan McLeod, and Bob Broad:
The research institute will help participants to develop and refine plans for a specific program-based research project. We will consider the question "What is (Program) Research?" and will discuss topics such as developing research questions and appropriate methodologies for investigating them and working with Institutional Review Boards. As a means of beginning a discussion of Best Practices, we will discuss some models and exemplars of program research. Participants should bring copies of at least one tentative research question for which they have identified a purpose, audience, and forum. We also encourage participants to bring copies of their institution’s relevant IRB/Human Research Subjects guidelines and applications.
